On June 6, 2016, I was diagnosed with end stage renal failure. I shared my story of undergoing dialysis and my search for a live kidney donor a few years ago here on the site. After years of having to undergo dialysis treatments 4 days a week, I am happy to announce that I received a new kidney on Sunday, May 9th, 2021!

All praises, glory, and honor goes to the Lord for this extraordinary blessing! I also want to give thanks to my mom and the rest of my family for being there for me throughout this process, however, I am going to save that for a post this coming Sunday. What I want to do here is make some announcements about what you should expect over the next couple of months.

Daily Food For Thoughts

The daily Food For Thoughts (Monday – Thursday/Friday) will definitely be continuing. This week (week of May 9th – May 14th), you did not receive a thought on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday because I was in the hospital for the surgery and recovery. I shared a scripture today and will also be sharing another scripture and thought on this coming Friday (May 14th). I will post scriptures and thoughts regularly as I have been doing – they should automatically post 8am EST.

Sermons and Sunday Schools

Now, this is going to be interesting because I am still fully capable of typing out the Sunday School commentaries and my sermons as well. I am still strong enough to speak in good voice so, here are my initial plans for both sermons and Sunday School lessons.

Sunday School: I am not going to stop the commentaries. In fact, I have already started typing out the commentary for this week’s Sunday School. So, we should not miss a beat when it comes to the Sunday School lessons. Now, I do not know if I am going to audio record a lesson this week – chances are high that I will record audio if not this week, definitely next week. Actually, I intended to release video of last week’s lesson but because I got called in for the surgery, that video is still sitting on my computer. So, heads up, I am going to be doing quick Sunday School videos in the future.

Sermons: I am going to be pausing doing sermons for at least the next month. No new sermons at least for the next 3 to 4 Sundays (could definitely be a bit longer). Now, this does not mean that I am going to stop preparing and typing out sermons – I am going to be pretty busy in fact when it comes to this. In fact, the first sermon I do preach when I return back to preaching is the Mother’s Day sermon I planned to preach before I was called for surgery. I will announce when I start back preaching so that you will be aware to look in your emails for those sermons.

Bible Study Season to Conclude

Lastly, I was prepared to post the last study of 1 John this past week but missed the date. The last bible study of this season will be posted Wednesday, May 19th, 2021. So definitely be on the look out for that study!

I am certainly very grateful for this transplant! I’m not one that likes to slow down but I do have to slow so that I can properly recover. So, physically I will not be standing and physically teaching or preaching any time soon, but I can definitely sit behind the keyboard and type. So don’t think I will let you all off easy! Sunday School will continue and who knows, I may write out sermons that you can read over as well. Thank you for the many prayers and I look forward to this new part of my journey!
