Be Sure to Secure Your Heart in Today’s Climate | Prov. 4:23,25-26
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you. 26 Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established. – Proverbs 4:23,25-26 NKJV

Proverbs 4:23,25-26 NKJV
I believe that some would say of me that I am a secluded person. You see, I don’t do the whole “going out” thing nor do I feel the need to be seen. Some will say of me that I am a cold and serious person because they may not see me smile or laugh. The truth is that I don’t care much for putting up with mess nor do I care for fake smiles and laughs at “jokes”.
Over the years, I have learned something that I believe is critically important to peace and good spiritual health. Physically, it’s good to keep your heart in the best health you can because the heart is the engine of our bodies. Spiritually, the soul is the engine of our being – who we are. As it’s important to keep your heart in as good of health as you can, it’s even more important that you keep your soul in good health. As Solomon said, you should keep your heart (your soul) with all diligence because life springs from there.
Solomon tells us some of the best way to go about doing just that. Solomon said to look straight ahead – don’t get distracted by those who desire to distract you with a bunch of mess. Solomon said to consider the path you’re taking; we should always be mindful of where we are going and who we surround ourselves with. I feel like just these two steps are so important to your soul because many of us will allow ourselves to get distracted by a bunch of filth while also being surrounded by it!
In today’s climate, where day by day the world is being flooded by utter wickedness, you must not get distracted. Do not let the wickedness of others pollute and corrupt your soul. Look straight ahead, consider your steps and make sure you’re walking with God.
