The Implanted Word Will Bear Good Fruit

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

All of God’s children have a choice today to heed God’s word and bear good fruit.

Today’s devotional reading: Deut. 30:11-16

God’s word is near. God’s word is not in a far away land, and it’s certainly not buried like a hidden treasure. Jesus said that the word of God is like a seed that has been sown in a field. Those who receive the word and abide by the word are like fertile soil that the seed has landed in and taken root. Yes, the word of God is near to you because it has been implanted and dwells in your heart.

The word is not simply the written word (Scripture), but it is also the living word. The living word abides with us through the Holy Spirit, whose role is to call to our remembrance God’s word (John 14:26). The Holy Spirit also leads and guides with the word, leading us in all truth (John 16:13).

God said that His word will not return to Him void (empty), but will accomplish what He pleases, and prosper in the thing for which He sent it (Is. 55:11). God’s desire towards you is to see you flourish and prosper. The word of God is always with you, and even more, it is always speaking to you.

Heed the word at all times, and you will certainly bear good fruit – this is the Lord’s promise.
