God Will Humble and He WIll Exalt
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
God is the sovereign ruler and we are merely His creation. What place do we have before God’s throne?

Today’s devotional reading: Job 42:1-6
The error of many today is a lack of honor and respect for the Lord. Some curse God from a place where they lack understanding. For example, Job questioned God’s motives because He lacked understanding of both his circumstance and the Lord. Others curse God through their thoughts and actions. For example, kings like Pharaoh and Nebuchadnezzar saw themselves as gods because of the wealth and power they had gained.
Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, is what Jesus told the people of the scribes and Pharisees who were consumed with having power (Matt. 23:12). No matter how much wealth or power you gain, you cannot raise yourself above God. The great error of Satan was that he raised himself to a level of pride, thinking his way was better than the Lord’s.
God will give sight to the blind, those who lack understanding, and move ignorantly. There are times when we speak out of frustration, not understanding what God is doing. Such frustration is understandable as nobody likes to go through hardships, pain, suffering, trials, tribulations, and affliction. Yet, the Lord invites us to stand within His counsel, to receive His wisdom, and to understand His ways.
God has a desire to exalt you, and He will exalt the humble. Therefore, we must no repeat Satan’s error and continue in pride because the haughty spirit will be brought down. We must also not choose to continue in the way of ignorance because such a way turns into foolishness, and its end is the way of death. Let us learn to live more humbly, receiving God’s teachings and His corrections so that we may forever dwell in His presence.
