God Is Faithful to Do What He Promise
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
When God makes a promise, His children ought to be confident that God will deliver.

Today’s devotional reading: Genesis 28:10-17
God has promised several things to those who are of faith. God has promised that He is with us (Is. 41:10). God has promised that He hears our prayers and will give us the desires of our hearts (Matt. 6:6). The Lord promised the defeat of our great adversary (Gen. 3:14-15). We all know very well that the Lord has promised everlasting life in His to all who believe in His only begotten Son (John 3:16).
God is not like us, in that we often make promises and forget them. If we don’t forget what we promise, we struggle to be faithful to what we have promised. Many of us have grown so used to being let down by someone failing to be faithful to their promise, that we struggle to be patient with God. If we struggle or if we feel a blessing is delayed, we will accuse God of delaying.
God takes His promises seriously. As Paul put it in Hebrews 6:13, when the Lord made His promise to Abraham, because He can swear by no one greater, He has to swear to Himself. God is faithful to Himself before He is faithful to us.
We know that God takes His promises seriously because He gave His only begotten Son to fulfill the promise He made to mankind. How many of us are willing to prove how faithful we are by giving our children as a sign of that faith? To everything that God has promised, always remember that He gave His only begotten Son as a show of His faithfulness.
Therefore, what the Lord says He is going to do, be confident and assured that He will do it.
