God’s Favor Is for a Lifetime
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
The child of God ought to always remember that God works out of tender loving care.

Today’s devotional reading: Nehemiah 9:15-21
We ought to sing praises to the Lord today. Even in the midst of trouble, we ought to sing God’s praises. Even in the day that the Lord rebukes us, we ought to sing His praises. In Psalm 30:5, David sang that the Lord’s anger is but for a moment, however, His favor is for life. You and I are highly favored today, even though some of us may not feel like we are.
We often wonder why the Lord permits bad things to happen to us. I am reminded of what Paul said about the chastening of the Lord. In Hebrews 12:5-11, Paul reminds us that the Lord deals with us as children, whom He loves. You see, whom the Lord loves, He chasten, and scourges every son He receives. Trials and tribulations only help to strengthen our faith and our resolve – they cannot destroy us because God won’t permit us to be destroyed by such.
Because we are favored by God, we ought not yield our spirit to our trials, tribulations, and burdens. God is a merciful God and we shall overcome. To yield your spirit in the day of chastening would be to give up on God. This would be to give up hope on the one who is rebuking you because He knows your potential and knows how great the fruit is that you can bear.
So, whether you are in a season of plenty or in a season of drought, do not grow weary of God. Let us not despise the Lord rebuke and chastening. If you God did not love you, if you were not favored in His eyes, He wouldn’t care to get the best out of you. So, let us lift up our spirit and heart in this day and rejoice for God does love and favor us, and His love and favor are unending.
