God’s Authority Orders the Visible and Invisible
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
God has power and authority over the visible and the invisible

Today’s devotional reading: Mark 1:21-28
God commands, and it is done. When the Lord tells the sun to shine, it shines, and we can see it give its light. When the Lord commands the wind to blow, we can feel its blow. When the Lord says, “Peace be still” to the raging sea, the sea immediately rests without hesitation (Mark 4:38-39).
God’s command over the physical is something that many of us can understand fairly well because the physical, the tangible, can be seen. Yet, we often forget that we are spiritual beings trapped in this physical shell that is our body. In this shell, we desire things of the spiritual. For example, all of us desire peace, and true peace is a spirit that is free from turmoil.
Though we desire peace of mind, many of us turn to the physical to supply a spiritual need. Yet, mammon (the world’s treasure) cannot satisfy the soul because its treasure is the physical. The only thing we do when we chase after mammon is burden and trouble our soul.
The soul faces enough on this journey, as the devil and his army continue to attack our souls. When it comes to matters of the soul, instead of us trying to make it happy on our own, why not turn to the Lord? If you desire peace in your heart, God will command your soul to be at peace and it will be done. Now is a time when we should be looking to God and praying such a prayer – asking God to bring peace to our hearts.
