The Ever-Present and Accessible God

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

Why are you crying out to false gods when God is available?

Today’s devotional reading: Habakkuk 2:18-20

The Lord has not hidden His presence from us. Scripture repeatedly tells us that the Lord is in His house and He is sitting on His throne. Not only does scripture make it clear where God is, but it is also made clear that we have access to the Lord.

Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you (Matt. 7:7).” Jesus said that those who ask the Father, who is in heaven, will receive good things from Him (Matt. 7:11).

The truth is that the Lord desires for you to come before the throne of grace. The truth is that the Lord desires to give you the desires of your heart. Again, Jesus testified, saying, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified that you bear much fruit (John 15:7-8).”

The door is open for us to go to the Lord, yet many of us choose not to go to Him. Many are choosing to worship and praise men and women, celebrities, and leaders, rather than the sovereign one. Through the prophet, Habakkuk, the question is raised: What can they do for you that God is unable to do? They can certainly mislead us. They can certainly lie to us. They can certainly be the death of us.

Yet, the ever-present God is a God of grace who desires to breathe hope and joy into your soul. life into your soul. The ever-present God is a God of grace who desires to give you life. You should seek that which will uplift and satisfy your soul for all of eternity.
