Humility and Honor in God’s Presence
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
Why do you only give honor to God when you enter into a building of worship? Is not everywhere you stand holy ground?

Today’s devotional reading: Exodus 3:1-6
When one chooses to enter the presence of God, one must do so with great reverence. God is holy and righteous, the sovereign ruler over creation. If there is anyone whom we ought to give honor, it certainly should be the Lord.
Moses was brought up not as a slave of Israel, but in the house of Pharaoh. The only one he respected would’ve been his adoptive mother and the pharaoh himself. Other than that, Moses grew up being used to others respecting him as a prince of Egypt. So, when he turned aside to see the sight of the bush that burned with fire but was not consumed, God had to teach him some decorum (manners) when entering into his presence.
How many of us are taking the sandals off our feet before the Lord today? That is to say, how many of us are coming before God’s presence with honor and humility?
We often forget that we, God’s children, who have received the Holy Spirit, are constantly in the Lord’s presence. The Holy Spirit abides with you if you sincerely believe in Him. Therefore, you ought to always conduct yourself in a manner that gives honor to the Lord. When you act out of character, through words, and in your deeds, understand that you are defiling yourself and the Lord.
Consider how you conduct yourself, always keeping in mind that wherever you stand, you’re standing in God’s presence, as He is always with you.
