Cherishing God’s Blessings and Promises with Gratitude
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
Don’t take lightly the blessings and promises of God as He is faithful to His promises and what He does for you.

Today’s devotional reading: 2 Samuel 7:18-25
David once asked the Lord, “Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far?” David asked those questions after God had made a covenant with him that his throne would never end. Moreover, he asked those questions from a place of having committed a great sin for which God did not destroy him, but showed him great mercy and grace.
Have you ever contemplated who you are for the Lord to show you such mercy and grace? All of us have our sins, small or great, but God does not move to instantly condemn us. All of us have disobeyed and fall short of His glory, yet the Lord chooses to keep loving us and blesses us as we continue forward.
We should rejoice today because of God’s grace and mercy. We should rejoice today because of His promises and His blessings. As the old folks used to say, God doesn’t have to love us, yet He chooses to do so; we could have been dead and gone, but God has made a way for us.
David sang, “Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name (Ps. 63:3-4).” Because of God’s promises and His continued blessings, we should continually praise His name, letting the world know how wonderful our God is.
