Building a Dwelling Place for God
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
All of God’s children should have the burning desire to build a place for God to dwell in.

Today’s devotional reading: 2 Chronicles 2:3-6
Do you desire to build a house for God? How would you construct that house? What kind of house would you construct?
David had a great desire to build a house, a temple for the Lord. This desire came from a place where David recognized all God had done for him, and David desired to do so in return. Yet, no matter his desire, God didn’t permit him to do so because he had shed much blood on earth, helping to deliver Israel from all their enemies.
As shown when He instructed Moses to construct the tabernacle of meeting, God’s dwelling place must be holy because He is holy. To build a dwelling place for the Lord, one must follow God’s instructions because is not going to dwell in any kind of place.
Now, one must understand that this is all a figure of speech because there are no walls that can contain the Lord, is there? As we know, God’s dwelling place is in the third heaven as He sits above the earth and the heavens. Yet, we must understand that all of God’s children can build and should be building a place for the Lord to dwell with them.
Consider your heart (soul) today, and whether or not it is a place for God to be able to dwell. You are a temple of the Lord.
