A Committed Relationship with God
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
As God is faithful to you, you must be faithful to Him in return.

Today’s devotional reading: 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1
Relationships are built on commitment, loyalty, and trust. Nobody desires to be in a relationship that is one-sided, as we would want to receive the same kind of love that we give. The Lord, likewise, feels the same way about dwelling in fellowship with you.
God is committed to you, as He has promised to never leave nor to forsake you. Every time that you call or cry to Him, God responds and does not ignore. When you need help, God is there to lend His hand; He does not respond by saying that He is too busy for you.
We have to ask ourselves whether or not we are doing our part in being committed (faithful and loyal) in our fellowship with the Lord. God asks us not to abide in sin and wickedness, as that would be adultery to Him. God asks us not to have part in darkness as He is the light. Every time we run to sin, committing works of wickedness, we cheat on God. Every time we run to the dark, to commit our sinful deeds, we cheat on the Lord.
God will never cheat on us, so why do we do that to Him? Such a thought should make us feel terrible in our spirit, as I imagine that none of us desire to cheat on God, as He has been so good to us. So, let us put forth our best effort to be faithful to the Lord, in the same manner that He is faithful to us. We must discipline ourselves, denying our lusts for sin, and committing ourselves to righteousness.
