The Sign You Are Truly a Child of God

In one act, the children of God and the children of the devil are manifested before the whole world.

Today’s devotional reading: 1 John 3:1-10

In his writing, John makes it clear that there is one act that defines whether or not you truly are a child of God. Do you know what that act is?

John wrote that those who practice righteousness is righteous, just as God is righteous. Practicing righteousness. John then wrote that those who do not practice righteousness, not loving their brother, are children of the devil.

You have a choice today on how you choose to live in this world. You can either shine as a beacon of hope in this world of darkness, or you can choose to add to the growing darkness by despising others.

All of mankind was created in the image of love, as God is our maker and creator, and the Lord is love. Your soul desires very much to move in love, as that is its original state. The soul has been corrupted by sin, and many are moved to hate, but hating others takes a lot more effort than it does love. Sadly, so many of us have grown comfortably despising others, and in that comfort, we fail to realize how much damage we have done to our soul.

If you truly want to recognize the kind of soul that you have, just consider how you treat others. The child of God ought to continually desire to be a better person tomorrow than what we are today, as we ought to desire to grow in our love and grace. The burning desire to do better in our love of others is truly a sign that the Holy Spirit is leading and guiding you.
