The Witness of God Is Still Present

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

If you need proof of the existence of God, why not just look around you, in every direction?

Today’s devotional reading: Acts 14:8-17

God is not without a witness. Those who don’t believe often ask for proof of His existence. Yet, the proof is all around us, and can be witnessed with our eyes, our hands, and even our noses.

Paul told those in Lystra who witnessed him perform a miracle that the miracle did not come from some idol god(s) on “Mount Olympus”. The people came running and bowing down to him, and Paul said that he was not worthy of such. All the praise and honor for the blessings we have received belong to the invisible God.

The rising of the sun in the east and its setting in the west is a witness of the invisible God. The rain that falls upon the earth stands as a witness of the invisible God. The crops that spring up from the earth, Paul stated, stand as a witness of the Lord. I would tell you that the fact that we’re still standing here, considering how often man tries to destroy itself, also stands as proof of the Lord.

Sure, wickedness and evil are present in the world. Sure, hunger and sickness are present in the world today. These things do not take away from the fact that God is still present with us. The proof that God truly is with us, again, is that we’re still standing in this world. The question that man must answer is whether or not we are with Him. If we were, we’d do something about the hunger and sickness with the knowledge and power that God has given to us.
