Integrity in the Midst of Struggle
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
In confronting wickedness, God’s children ought not to veer from their faith in the truth.

Today’s devotional reading: 1 Peter 2:21-25
Being a follower of Christ will call on you to be steadfast in your faith. The reason why that is the case is because you are going to be tried and tested in this world. Jesus never hid that we will have tribulation (John 16:33). In 1 Peter 4:12, Peter told us believers not to think some strange thing has come upon us in the day of the fiery trial which is to try us.
If you think that just because you are a Christian, that means that life is suddenly going to be easy for you, I would tell you to think again. In John 15:18-25, Jesus plainly told the disciples that one of the trials they will face in life is the hatred of the world. Then, as He hung on the cross, Jesus not only suffered physically, but He also suffered mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
In every facet of our living, we are going to be tried and tested. Yet, in the day of our adversity, we must not conform; we must hold fast to our faith. Yes, when the world is falling apart all around us, we must keep faith in the truth. The truth we must keep our faith in is that all power is in God’s hands – He is in control.
In the face of adversity, we must keep the faith that God will bring us through. When in lack, we must remember that God will supply and provide our needs. When we come face-to-face with our adversary, we must be steadfast in our faith. We cannot confront our adversary in the manner that our adversary confronts us.
No, we must move in the true form of godliness, following the example that Christ set for us. We must move with unyielding faith.
