The Propitiation of Our Sin
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
A lamb has been put in the thicket for all of us, a sacrifice offered once for all of our sins.

Today’s devotional reading: Leviticus 16:20-34
No longer does man need to put their sins on a goat, because the Lord gave His only begotten Son. No longer does man need a high priest to enter into the Most Holy place to sprinkle blood because of our sins, because the Lord gave His only begotten Son.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in His should not perish but have everlasting life,” is what Jesus told Nicodemus. Let’s be clear, Jesus did not set a number for how much or how little the Lord loved the world. There was no need because the depth of love that the Lord has for you, yourself, is that He gave His only begotten Son for you.
Christ is our propitiation, the atonement offering of our sin. We did not have to offer anything of ours to the Lord to try to make peace with Him. God gave for us! Rather than us trying to make peace with God, He made peace with us, reconciling all things to Himself through Christ, our Savior.
Christ is our scapegoat. Therefore, don’t you dwell in sin when you have one whom you can place your sins on. The Lord does not desire, nor will He take pleasure, in pouring out His wrath upon those who chose not to lay their sins on the scapegoat. We have such a wonderful blessing in Christ in that we ought not be ashamed turn all of our sins over to Him.
Through the shedding of His blood, the giving of His life, Christ has lifted up all of us who are faith from the death of sin.
