A Covenant of Mercy
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
Do you think that you’re enduring the today’s aflictions by your own strength and own might?

Today’s devotional reading – Genesis 8:20-22
Do you understand how we are still here today? Leaders often make a promise to bring about world peace, but when is the last time you recall the world actually being at total peace? If not at total war, we have had cold wars, and if not cold wars, someone is being oppressed, and if not oppressed, someone is being hurt or harmed.
The intent of mankind’s heart is one of prospering at any cost, even if that means taking the life of another. Mankind genuinely believes that peace can only come through violence, which says a great deal about us.
Yet, we aren’t still present in the world today because of dropped bombs or bullets fired from a gun. We, mankind, are still present in this world today because God chose to make a covenant with Noah, promising to never again curse the ground for man’s sake, nor to destroy every living thing as He had done with the flood.
We, mankind, are still present in the world today by the grace and mercy of the Lord. The question that you must answer is, what will you do with the mercy and grace that God shows you? God shows us mercy so that we can make corrections in our lives so that when the day of judgment comes, His wrath will pass over us. While the Lord won’t destroy everything with water, as He did with the great flood, individual judgment will come, for certain.
Use this time wisely – don’t go in the way of the fool who despises the correction of the Lord.
