Watch and Wait, Be Steady, Be Calm
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
Who or what do you think can overcome God that you would be worried about being a threat to you?
Today’s devotional reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

What we will not do is worry right now. Let me give you a bit of insight on the tactics of the devil. The devil is a corrupter, and the work that he does today is the same work that he did yesterday.
Satan desires to turn hearts away from the Lord. Those whom he turns from God are those whom he corrupts. Spiritual separation from the Lord leads one to become spiritually bankrupt. The spiritually bankrupt are immoral in their ways, moving selfishly, being inconsiderate of others, and not caring about the harm they are causing.
Such wicked people move out of fear, desperately trying to cause others to either live with the same shared fear or to live in fear or worry. Satan’s goal is for you to panic, to think that there is no hope.
However, Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27).” Jesus promised that He will come again and will receive the faithful follower unto Himself so that we may be where He is also.
You have a hope in Christ, and Christ has told you to live in that hope – watch and wait for the day of your deliverance from sin and the wicked. You have a hope in Christ, so live in the promised eternal victory that cannot be robbed and taken away, nor can it be destroyed. Be steady and be calm in this day because the Lord our God is faithful to keep that which He has promised.
