There’s Still Hope Amid Today’s Troubles

You should never let the wickedness of today rob you of what they cannot take! Don’t give up your hope.

Today’s devotional reading: 1 Peter 1:3-9

Though we are tried and tested today, we still have reason to hope. In all of your trials and tribulations, you ought to remember that God is your hope. In all of the persecution of this day from those who are filled with so much bitterness, you must remember that God is still your hope. God is all of our hope because while the world seeks to destroy our souls, the one who is in control has chosen to have mercy on us.

God is merciful towards you because the Lord loves you. We know that God loves us because He gave His only begotten Son to lay down His life so that He may dwell with us. We often think of the Lord dwelling with us in the new day to come, yet the Lord isn’t waiting until the day we dwell with Him eternally. What do I mean by that?

As Paul reminded the Corinthians, I remind you today that you are a temple of the Lord, and He dwells with you through the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19). Who is it that can overcome the Lord and destroy you? Can the wicked do it? Can Satan do it? You are covered by the Lord, and therefore, through all of the tribulation of this day, you have no reason to live in fear. Because God rests with you and keeps you in His care, you have every reason to live with hope in your heart.

As Peter stated, for a little while, we are grieved by various trials, but the testing of this day is doing nothing but making a gem of all of us who have believed in Christ. I encourage you today to hang in there because everything will be alright! Through God, you will overcome.
