The God of Second Chances
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
We should not undervalue the mercy of the Lord, for where would we be without His mercy?

Today’s devotional reading: Nehemiah 9:1-25
Every day is another opportunity for us to grow and to do better. None of us is perfect, just yet, because sin is a part of our nature. Yet, the perfect and righteous God hasn’t condemned any of us, has He?
I want you to always take into consideration the mercy of the Lord because we do not appreciate it enough. Spouses will give up on spouses because of their transgressions. Family members will give up on other members because of their transgression. Friends will give up on friends because of their transgressions. This is understandably so, especially when one has found themselves in an unhealthy relationship where they are being hurt physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Yet, in our fellowship with the Lord, we are the ones who are always transgressing, but the Lord our God sitll remains ever so faithful to us. God is a patient God who stands with us no matter what, full of faith that we can become righteous. In our transgressions, the Lord has proclaimed that He is both faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us of our unrighteousness.
When you fall into temptation, when you inevitably sin again, don’t be so ashamed of your sin that you don’t go to the Lord. While God will judge us for how we lived, that judgment has been delayed because you are still living and breathing. As it is said in Lamentations 3:22-23, “because of God’s”Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning.”
Give thanks to the Lord for His mercy, go before Him with your confession, and be lifted up from the overwhelming guilt of your sin.
