Rom. 6:1-7 – A New Attitude
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
Regardless of how difficult life and times are, the faithful believer ought never hang their heads in defeat.

Today’s devotional reading: Romans 6:1-7
Do you believe in the birth, death, and resurrection of Christ, and that through His resurrection, you have found grace and mercy in God’s eyes? Paul stated that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, then you are saved unto salvation (Rom. 10:9-10).
Many of us have been saved unto salvation, but we still act as if we are chained and bound in sin’s grasp. Saved unto salvation means that you have been broken free from the chains of sin! You were broken free when Christ laid down His life, and now His words, ministered to you by the Holy Spirit, help to lead you away from sin’s authority.
When you dwelt in sin, you obeyed sin’s every word. Your thoughts were sinful, your actions followed, leaving you with the shame of sin. When sin dwells within the heart, one’s outlook on life becomes one that is hopeless. Many believe their sins are so great that God won’t even forgive them, but the only one preaching such a message to you is sin.
If you turn from sin, sin will still cry out to you, saying that you’re still no different, but don’t you listen to sin’s words. When you turn from sin, don’t you look back! Look ahead and move forward down the path the Holy Spirit will lead you. As you heed the voice of the Holy Spirit, you will take on a new walk and a new talk.
When you heed the Holy Spirit, you will move with a new attitude that is filled with hope, love, joy, peace, gentleness, and kindness. Through trials, tribulations, and affliction, hope in the Lord will carry you a mighty long way.
