Titus 3:8-11 – Spend Your Time Wisely

Time is not a common commodity and you shouldn’t treat it as something you have in great possession.

Today’s devotional reading: Titus 3:8-11

Time is precious. Yes, time is one of our most precious assets because we’re always losing it. Therefore, with the time we have, we must learn how to cherish and hold on to it, rather than waste it on things that do not profit or prosper.

What do you give your time to? Paul told the Philippian believers that to him to live was Christ. In other words, Paul said that his time was devoted to Christ and doing the work of one who strives to live Christ. The question that every believer must answer with every breath they take is whether or not they are devoting their time to live Christ.

The devil is often working to rob us of our time by getting us caught up in a bunch of mess. Have you ever noticed how when you try to devote time to your studies, to prayer, or to charity, thoughts that shouldn’t come to mind do just that, come to mind? Have you ever noticed how something seems to interrupt you, or you get sidetracked? Have you ever noticed how you can be discussing faith and one tries to stir up arguments?

Something that we must learn today is how to tune out the noise and stay focused in our devotion. As Paul encouraged Titus to do, we must learn how to avoid that which does not profit our spirit nor the spirits of those around us. As Paul encouraged Titus to do, we must learn how to put our time in the right place and towards the right thing. Time is precious and short, and it grows shorter by the day, so let us do our best to put behind that which will waste our time.
