John 14:5-11 – Faith Does Not Follow Blindly

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

The wicked’s suggestion is that we are following one who is blind Himself. Is our faith truly blind?

Today’s devotional reading: John 14:5-11

Your faith in the Lord ought to be full of trust and confidence. There is this notion that followers of Christ follow Him blindly. This is a notion that is shared by those who either do not follow Christ or they are foolish to what moving faithfully is because they do not know or understand the concept of faith.

One who follows Christ follows the one who is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. Let us remember that God is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The foundations of this creation were laid forth by Him. The ordinances for all things were ordained by Him. Paul said it best when he wrote, “All things were created through Him and for Him (Col. 1:16).

So, when people question having faith in the one who is Sovereign, the implication is that they know of one who is above the Sovereign. Who is it that stands above the one true Creator? Surely not the thing(s) made by the Creator! Surely not!

We do not follow blindly because the one we follow is the one who knows where He is leading us. We do not follow blindly because the one we follow knows where His blessing is! We are certain that God knows what He is doing and where He is going because of all that He has done for us! Look at where you are today! No, you may not have everything that you wanted, but your needs are constantly cared for, regardless of all that is going on today.

The Lord has proved Himself faithful to both deliver and bless, so why wouldn’t we confidently follow Him?
