A Son Is Given for Us
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
The story of Christ being given to the world is a wonderful story of our redemption.

Today’s devotional reading: Isaiah 9:1-7
Christ was given for a purpose and a reason, and that reason was for you. Christ was given so that mankind does not perish, but dwells for everlasting life in God’s kingdom.
What you and I should be celebrating, not just for a month of the year but every day of our lives, is the truth that God has given us a redeemer. God has brought forth His salvation – His deliverer – to deliver us from the depths of sin that we fell into. Without Christ, we would be living as enemies of the Lord, destined for eternal condemnation. Yet, because the Lord loved us, He gave us His only Son.
His name is wonderful because He laid down His life for us. His name is Counselor because we have an omniscient (all-knowing) counselor to turn to. His name is Mighty God because Christ is the Son; He is holy and divine. His name is Everlasting Father because He came from eternity to take us to eternity. His name is the Prince of Peace because through His shed blood, peace was stored between mankind and God.
Thankfully, all authority has been given to Him, and He is the one who governs and judges. Because of Him, we can celebrate and rejoice because our future has been sealed. Regardless of what anyone says, celebrate the birth of Christ and enjoy the wonderful blessing that God has given you.
