Aligning With God’s Guidance and Finding His Favor
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
Sincere faith moves in alignment with God’s guidance, rather than against His word.

Today’s Devotion: Genesis 6:9-22
Key Verse:
Genesis 6:22 NKJV
22 Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.
Noah lived during a day when man’s every thought and intent was wickedness and evil (Gen. 6:5). God was “sorry” that He had made man and was set to destroy man (Gen. 6:6-7). Yet, in all of the wickedness of that day, Noah found favor in God’s eyes.
Why did Noah find favor in God’s eyes? Because his heart was open to receiving God. Not only was Noah’s heart open to receiving God, but he also moved as God instructed him. Even when those surrounding him scoffed at what Noah was doing, Noah continued to move in accordance to God’s instructions. Sincere faith moves in alignment with God’s guidance. Sincere faith does not choose to ignore God’s instructions to head in another direction.
So, what can we do to find God’s favor?
- Choose God’s will over your own will. Walking in alignment with God’s will is a choice, thought it proves difficult for many to make. The reason why this choice is difficult for many to make is because we desire to be in control. The truth of the matter is that God will give us our heart’s desire if we choose to lean on Him (John 15:7). Otherwise, we remain stuck in a system where not even 1% lives in the “prosperity” where the rich continue to be greedy and act with malicious intent.
- Avoid being persuaded away by those who scoff at God’s word. Do not follow in the path of a fool as it is a way that leads to destruction (Prov. 14:12). The path of the fool stands in opposition, as an enemy, to God! If you’re trying to find favor in God’s eyes, the last thing you should want to do is take a path that leads to you becoming an enemy of His.
