Answering Tribulation With Praise in This Hour

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

There is a great need for praising God in our world today.

Today’s devotional reading: Psalm 96:1-13

We, collectively, have gotten away from praising God, but praise is due His name, especially in today’s world. Now, I certainly understand that you may not feel like you have reason to praise God today, but there are many reasons to praise the Lord.

We should praise the Lord because God is our shepherd. As you shepherd, God is blessing you day by day, whether you can perceive that or not. Jesus taught the disciples that the birds of the air and the flowers of the field don’t live in want of anything because the Father sustains them. He then pointed out that we are all of more value than they, and because of that, He wondered, why do we worry about what we think we lack (Matt. 6:25-34)?

Do you think you have made it to this day by your own might? Sure, maybe you’re not where you want to be. Sure, you might be facing some of the greatest afflictions you have ever faced in your life, yet God is in the valley with you. Keep in mind, you have been in a valley before that God has delivered you from.

Give God praise today, and claim the blessing that God is delivering to you, though you may not see it now. When we lift up praise to the Lord, it is not for God, as there is nothing that we can do to add to or to help God. When we lift up praise to the Lord, it is for our neighbors. Praising God for all He has done, and for all He has about to do for you, can inspire others to call on His name as well.

This is what we need today: for others to be inspired to turn to God and trust in Him!
