Be Someone Others Trust and Turn To

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

We have a high calling and in this calling we are to be open and available to others.

Today’s devotional reading: 2 Timothy 2:22-25

The child of God ought to have compassion and humility. Jesus commanded us to love the Lord, and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. This love ought to come from a pure and sincere heart because the love the Lord has shown to us is genuine.

Let us consider today:

  1. Has the Lord ever abandoned us when we were in need?
  2. Does the Lord grow tired of us coming before His throne?
  3. Does the Lord not show us mercy (compassion) even when we have disobeyed in thought and deed?

God sympathizes with us even though He is holy and righteous. Consider how those who sought for Christ did so desperately and without fear. If there is anyone who could judge us in righteousness, it is God. So, if the Lord does not judge us in such a manner and show us much compassion, why should we judge others in a self-righteous manner?

Many are afraid to approach the child of God for fear they will be judged rather than understood. Many are afraid to see the child of God coming because they fear they will be judged. Let us be someone whom others trust and are comfortable with by being gracious and understanding. By being available, we are better able to serve and help to uplift those who may desperately seek you out.
