Discernment Under the Holy Spirit’s Steadfast Guidance
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
If you listen to the the Holy Spirit, trust that He will never lead you astray

Today’s devotional reading: Ephesians 1:15-21
The Holy Spirit is our helper and comforter. As Jesus was preparing to leave the disciples, He told them, “Let not your hearts be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.” Then He said to the disciples, “The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you… (John 14:1,26-26).” As we are also His followers and disciples indeed, Jesus’ words are for us as well.
Jesus shared these words because He knew that He was about to leave the disciples, and He desired for them not to be fearful or anxious at His going away. Jesus desired for them to know that the Lord would always be with them. As these words would be of comfort for them, they are also of comfort for us.
There is comfort in the Spirit because He is also the Spirit of truth and error. Without the Spirit there lies confusion, yet the Holy Spirit will remove all paths but the righteous one from before you. Because the Holy Spirit is holy and divine, He knows what is righteous and unrighteous. Therefore, should you heed His voice, you can discern between good and evil.
Let us find comfort in this knowledge. In uncertain times, listen to God’s voice because He is never uncertain. When you may feel like you’re helpless and lost, God is with you – you are not alone! God is always with you, and He will comfort you, help you, and He will deliver you.
