Does God Believe in You?
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
God searches and knows the heart every intent. The Lord knows what is true from that which one may present.

Today’s devotional reading: John 2:23-25
Many are used to wearing a mask for the world to see. What I mean by this is that many of us do a really good job of hiding who we truly are on the inside. For example, many profess to be Christians, children of God, and they wear the name of Chrisitanity for the world to see. Yet, Jesus warned that a ravenous wolf can put on sheep’s clothing to present itself as a sheep (Matt. 7:15).
God is not fooled by the wolf in sheep’s clothing. God knows the intents of our hearts, what we truly believe in our souls. One may profess to believe in Christ, but God knows whether or not that profession is a confession of the heart. God does not believe in those who do their charity for the world to see and be sung praises by the world (Matt. 6:1-4).
God believes in those who are of a contrite spirit and tremble at His word (Is. 66:2). God believes in those who humble themselves and lean on Him. God believes in those who recognize they are flawed and believe He is able to lift up to perfection and everlasting life. God believes in those who, in secret, when nobody is watching, are still putting forth their best effort to live in sincere faith.
Our hearts must be for the Lord, not just our words. As Paul told the Corinthian church, one must walk by faith and not by sight. As Jesus taught, true worshipers must worship the Lord in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). The question we must answer today is whether or not we really are worshiping the Lord in spirit and truth, or do we save our worship for a building or just for a special time?
