Food For Thought

Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more. And his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words … The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

Genesis 37:5, 8; 39:2 NKJV

Joseph was a dreamer and in his dreams he saw greatness. To Joseph, his greatness was not by his own doing but through the giving of God. God desires to give – to bless – all of us. God’s blessings are all good and perfect gifts for us (Jas. 1:17). So, when Joseph shared this news with his brothers, you have to imagine he thought they would be excited for him. Yet, Joseph’s brothers hated him, threw him in a pit, and left him to be sold into slavery.

We often joke that sometimes it “be your own people”, and for Joseph, his haters was his own flesh and blood. Though they hated on his dreams, Joseph could do nothing but move forward by faith. In moving forward by faith, he was favored by the Lord, and God blessed him greatly. The blessings that God have for you are great.

Don’t ever let someone hate on your dreams and kill your desire to be blessed by God. Yes, you are going to have those that despise your dreams and it could be those closest to you. That said, regardless of what others say or think, you keep moving by faith. So long as you move by faith, you are always going to be moving towards your blessing. When you move by faith, you are certainly one that is favored by the Lord.
