Embrace the Greatness of God’s Mercy
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
We often unappreciative of the mercy of God, but the mercy of God will carry you a long way!

Today’s devotional reading: Psalm 108:1-13
The mercy of God is truly a blessing that I don’t believe we truly understand, yet you ought to seek His mercy daily. Without the mercy of the Lord, our adversaries would have their way with us. Without the mercy of God, the devil would eat us up and spit us out. Without God’s mercy, our sin would crush and destroy us. Without God’s mercy, we would be cast into the everlasting fire.
You should seek God’s mercy today because that is too many things to try to take on by yourself. Ask yourself, do you think you can take on your adversaries by your own power and strength? Sure, you may be able to handle those of the flesh.
However, ask yourself, do you think you can take on the devil and his army, by your power and might? No, you would end up like the man who was possessed by Legion, living daily, being tortured (Mark 5:1-20). Do you think you can withstand the weight of your sin without God’s help? Pride and ego led to the fall of Satan.
Do you truly think that you can stand before the Lord and withstand His judgment? All of us sin and fall short of the glory of God, even after having received God’s instructions. None of us can withstand the consuming fire of the eternal condemnation of sin. This means that all of us are in need of seeking first God’s kingdom and His righteousness.
All of us should embrace having the weight of sin lifted off our shoulders by the Lord. Because of His mercy, we can breathe easier and live. For that, we should embrace the Lord and give thanks.
