Faith and Holding Yourself Accountable
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
Believing and moving in faith is a pivotal choice that you must make for yourself.

Today’s devotional reading: Deut. 31:24-29
The faith of one can only go so far for another. Scripture is filled with many shining examples of faith. For example, Moses was a great leader to the children of Israel, setting the shining example of faith. Daniel set a great example of faith for his friends. Jesus, the firstborn from the dead, set the example for all of us to follow. I imagine that in your life, you have had some shining examples of faith around you.
Yet, faith is a personal choice we must all make. The faith of grandparents and parents may bring you to God, but you have to choose Him. Though Moses was a great example of faith for the children of Israel, a generation of Israel chose not to enter the Promised Land and was lost in the wilderness. Daniel’s friends, on the other hand, saw his example and chose to have great faith in the face of Nebuchadnezzar.
The word of God has been made known throughout the lands. The name of Christ has been made known to mankind. Even more, we are repeatedly told in scripture that at the name of Christ, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess. Everyone will be held accountable for how they choose to move (act) in this world.
Because we know we will be held accountable, judged by God, we must take it upon ourselves to learn what pleases the Lord, to live by His word. Thankfully, God will give you His Helper, the Holy Spirit, and He will lead and guide you in the way of truth (John 16:13).
