Honor to the One Who Sits High

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

If even the angel of God honors Him, shouldn’t we also give honor to the Lord?

Today’s devotional reading: Psalm 103:19-22

God’s throne is above the earth; He is the Sovereign Ruler. One should not think that God is bound to His creation. As the Lord said in Isaiah 66:1, Heaven is His throne, and earth is His footstool. God is He who established the ordinances – the laws and principles – of His creation.

Nothing is equal to the Lord. The angels are beneath God. Satan and his demon army are beneath God and dwell in fear. You and I are bound to this physical creation; we are bound to its laws and principles, and we cannot go beyond its restraints. Many live trying to defy His ordinances, but one day God will judge, and one should fear His judgment. Only a fool will stand before God’s throne of judgment and not fear Him.

The angels live in service of His will, ministering to us. Those of sincere faith, over time, learn to humble themselves and find grace in His eyes by living in obedience. Yet, all of us should be giving honor to Him, as God made us in His image, according to His likeness. God breathed into our nostrils the breath of life, making us a living being.

In us dwells a piece of God, and deep down within, we ought to be able to feel the truth. The truth being that none of this – life itself – is random. We should feel deep down within our souls that there is a God who sits above all things. With that feeling, we should seek to know our Creator and Maker.
