Sin Will Not Escape God’s Sight

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

Have you not heard that every knee will bow before the Lord one day?

Today’s devotional reading: Zephaniah 3:1-8

God has called on people everywhere to repent. When His ministry began, Jesus proclaimed, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” The proclamation of Christ’s ministry should be taken as a warning. You see, God’s desire is for mankind to heed the warning of His coming so that we can get our house in order, which is to say, get ourselves cleaned up.

Will you take the proclamation of the coming of the Lord seriously? The promises of God’s judgment should always be taken seriously, especially when history shows us what happens when God’s judgment is taken lightly.

Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for taking God’s judgment for granted. Pharaoh, in his form of godliness, underestimated the power of God, leading to him and his people’s suffering. The northern kingdom of Israel fell when Israel thought God could not see their wickedness. Judah was conquered and destroyed when they refused to heed God’s prophets.

The day is wicked and evil, and God is speaking loudly today, as He is making clear mankind’s need to turn away from the evil of his way. The proud are too foolish to turn away from sin, and it is a mindset that will destroy them. God has made it clear that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess; nobody will escape God’s judgment, especially not the sinner.

Take this day seriously, and do your best to obey God’s word so that you can get your house in order.
