The Beacon of Hope to Sinners
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
Jesus is the light at the end of a dark tunnel

Today’s devotional reading: Acts 26:12-23
God does not leave us to walk in the darkness of sin without a way out of it. The desire of the Lord was not for man to dwell in a world where there is no justice – no love, no fairness, no equality. God made mankind with a desire for mankind to live together, to flourish, and to prosper together.
A desire to be great crept into the heart of mankind and darkened as it is a desire that is full of sin. Throughout history we’ve seen such a desire has done nothing but cause war, hurt, and harm. The desire to be great created segregation and divisions which have done nothing but keep mankind from flourishing.
Isaiah 59 shows us that the Lord was not pleased with the way of man and He moved to bring salvation to mankind. The light of the Lord dwelt in this world, showing us a better way to live. Through Christ, we all have hope in an ever-growing dark world. When one finds oneself walking in the darkness of sin and weighed down in their soul, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
The light of Christ shines in darkness, and all one has to do is go to His light. In scripture, Paul often recounted his sinful ways and spoke of how he was a chief sinner. Yet, he the light of Christ shined brightly upon him, humbling him. Paul then rejoiced in finding mercy in the light of Christ for all he had done against Him.
There is mercy and redemption in Christ. You don’t have to walk in darkness and suffer the fate of those who blatantly choose to live sinfully. Christ will welcome you with wide open arms in His mercy, restoring your soul so that you may flourish, and so that you may become a light to all of those around you.
