The Humble Will be Exalted and Rejoice
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
Instead of trying to build yourself up by your own strength and might, why not let God exalt you in due time?

Today’s devotional reading: Luke 1:46-55
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,” is what Jesus said to the disciples in His sermon on the mount. He also said to them, “Blessed are the meek (the lowly), for they shall inherit the earth (Matt. 5).”
God has never changed His mind on who He dwells with and who He will greatly bless. In Isaiah 57:15, the Lord stated, “I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”
After speaking with the rich young ruler, Jesus said that the proud and the rich will struggle to inherit eternal life in God’s kingdom. The proud and rich struggle to find reason to humble themselves and depend on the Lord. For them, the riches they possess, and the riches they desire to possess, are of the world. The riches of the world rule their thoughts and their desires, and in that, their eyes are taken off the kingdom.
Why would God exalt one who thinks that the riches of the world will exalt them more? God does not bless those who do not seek Him. Yet, if we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, Peter said, God will exalt us in due time (1 Pet. 5:6).
Let me encourage you to remain humble, be patient, and God will reward your faith.
