The Light of God Is With Us

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

If one chooses to walk in the light of God, how can they ever stumble and fail? God is all-knowing.

Today’s devotional reading: Matthew 3:13-17

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” when the disciples asked where He would be going and how to know the way. Jesus knows the way, and He is the way to life everlasting in the kingdom of God. If one desires to come to the Father’s kingdom, they must walk in His light.

To help us walk in the Light, Jesus has given us the Helper and a guide. The Holy Spirit is our Helper and He will come to rest with all who are of sincere faith. The role that the Spirit plays in our lives is to comfort and help us in our times of fear and doubt; He calls to remembrance the words of Christ (John 14:26). When we are lost and wandering, the Holy Spirit leads and guides us into all truth (John 16:13).

It is better for one to walk while they have the light, rather than try to walk in darkness. Jesus said that those who walk in darkness are those who don’t know where they are going (John 12:35). The last thing one ought to do is walk in darkness because that is how one ends up falling into a pit.

One ought not walk without the Spirit because that is how one gets deceived. We live in a world with many false doctrines and false teachers. We live in a world where the great deceiver and adversary also sets out to lie and to deceive many. Therefore, if it is not of the Spirit, one ought to beware whose words they are listening to, because the way of the fool ends in death.

Seek Christ, receive the Holy Spirit and let the Spirit guide you – He shall never lead you astray.
