The One Who Suffered for You

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

None of have to suffer God’s wrath because God has provided His lamb for the slaughter.

Today’s devotional reading: Isaiah 53:4-12

Praise is due to the one who suffered for your sin. Many of us today live under the heavy weight of sin, but there is something that you ought to know about that. You do not have to suffer under the rule of sin. If you permit sin to rule over you, it will do nothing but crush and destroy your soul under its heavy weight.

Christ was given to the world for two reasons. Christ was given to shine light upon the truth. A truth that preaches that all of us are sinners who fall short of the glory of God. A truth that we live in need of repentance today. A truth that there is liberty, freedom, from the guilt of our sin.

Christ was also given to suffer the wrath of God for us. In the prophecy of the suffering servant, the prophecy preaches that it pleased the Father to make His Son suffer. Did it please the Father to do such because He takes pleasure in destruction? Absolutely not. The Father took pleasure in the aroma of mankind’s offering to atone for our sins.

The Father has a desire to dwell with you for everlasting life. The only way to make that possible was through an offering that could atone for our sins because God will never dwell in sin. So, it pleased the Father that all of our sins were placed on Christ so that He could get what He desires – to dwell with both you and me. So, because He gave His only begotten Son for your sins, shouldn’t you honor His offering?

Why would you dishonor what the Lord did for you by choosing to remain in the bondage of sin when He gave His only begotten Son so that you don’t have to? Christ suffered God’s wrath for you.
