Your Voice and Your Words Matter

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

God has not put you in this world to sit on the sidelines and keep quiet. How can we become more confident in using our voice?

Today’s devotional reading: Proverbs 15:1-4

Use your tongue with great care. With the tongue, one can encourage or discourage. With the tongue one can lift up or tear down. With the tongue, one can save a life or destroy a life. Because the tongue is so powerful, we ought to be very careful with what we say, especially with our calling as a child of God.

The child of God is called to share the gospel – the good news of God’s mercy, His grace, and salvation through Christ. The gospel is a message that heals, a message that saves souls. Many of us recognize the importance of sharing the gospel, and become afraid of sharing it. We don’t want to mess up.

We can’t be afraid to let someone know the wonderful message of God’s gospel. Jesus told the apostles not to worry when in such moments, because the Holy Spirit would give them the words to say (Luke 12:11-12). Your voice and your words matter. Your experience matters. Your actions matter as well. In all these things, the Holy Spirit will guide and bless others through you.

One of the greatest lessons we can learn as sincere believers is how to move out of our own way and trust the Holy Spirit to guide us at all times.
