Peace Over the Struggle You Have Within
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
None of us are perfect as we all have inner demons we must face and overcome.

Today’s devotional reading: Romans 7:14-25
One of the greatest struggles you’ll face is that of obedience. The child of God should be putting forth the effort of living according to God’s way, as we should be putting God’s will and way over our own. However, as Paul said, “What I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.”
Our struggle often comes doubting the Lord. We also struggle with differentiating between needs versus what we want or covet. God has given us the Helper, that is the Holy Spirit, whose role is to lead and guide us into all truth, yet, we still struggle to heed the Spirit. The desire of the flesh – what we want or covet – can be so strong that it can cause us to go deaf to the voice of the Spirit.
Faith, and learning to completely trust in the Lord, will help you overcome your inner demons. We must learn, for ourselves, that God’s way is better than our own. This is a lesson that often occurs when the Lord permits you to get so far ahead of Him, that you are left with no other choice but turning back to Him. Failure to turn back, or being stubborn in your way, will only cause greater struggle.
The Holy Spirit is always with you. Always seek the guidance of the Spirit as He will certainly help you to correct course.
Thankfully, God doesn’t give up on us. God is always waiting for us to return back to Him when we have veered off course. As shown in the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32), though we are prone to wander, God is merciful and He is forgiving. God will welcome your return with arms wide open, bearing the blessing that He has made especially for you.
