A Bold Challenge for Restoration in Evil Times

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

Though the times are evil, we aren’t called to join in with the foolish heart.

Today’s devotional reading: Ephesians 5:15-21

Imagine Paul, in the day he lived in, saying, “The days are evil.” In his wisdom, he told the saints in Ephesus to walk circumspectly (cautiously) in wisdom. The Ephesian church was a church divided along the lines of Jews and Gentiles.

The Jews who chose to believe in Christ looked down on the Gentile believers because of their heritage. Hindering or blocking one’s spiritual growth, is the act of those who blaspheme the Spirit. So, Paul sat out to stop the Jewish believers from moving in a foolish or sinful manner. They were to move in a manner that would redeem (restore) the time from such sinful manner.

Do you believe we are to move in a manner redeeming the time we live in? The days are evil, aren’t they? As a child of God, we ought not to be joining in the sin of the fools, should we? No, Christ has set the tone for how we are to move in such days. We are to redeem the days moving by grace towards each other.

If we aren’t moving in grace with each other, who will?
