About the Father’s Business | Luke 2:48-49

Read This Passage: Luke 2:41-50

48 So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.” 49 And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”

Luke 2:48-49 NKJV

When He was just a boy, Jesus made it very clear as to why He was manifested in the world. You see, Jesus’ arrival from the heavenly domain was not like some vacation to paradise. This world, as He made very clear to us, was a world covered in darkness (sin) and in need of much light – light that’s holy and righteous and filled with the divine truth.

On this occasion, at twelves years old (Luke 2:42), Jesus and His parents had went to the temple for the Feast of the Passover. When the time of the feast had finished, Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem as Joseph, Mary, and their traveling group began to return home. Jesus remained behind to teach as He was already letting His light shine as just as twelve year old child. When His parents realized that Jesus was not with them, they returned to Jerusalem for them which is when Jesus made it clear that He was about His Father’s business. In fact, you will notice that Jesus said, “I must be about My Father’s business.”

The Father had a task for Jesus and that task superseded everything! I wonder today, how many of us are about the Father’s business in that His business supersedes everything in our life? As a sincere believer, the Father’s business should come first in your life! No matter your age, if you are moved in your soul (your spirit) to let your light shine, you let that light shine! No matter who it is that may question what you are doing, you let your light shine for the Lord and let them know that you’re letting your light shine. Tell them that you are about your Father’s business!
