Food For Thought

23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”

Mark 9:23-24 NKJV

In my most recent sermon, I preached about becoming discouraged in the heart. Discouragement, can easily give way to doubt and doubt has the ability to paralyze us in our faith. You see, true faith wants to keep moving forward no matter what. Doubt, on the other hand, gives up and sits down.

In this scripture, a man came to Jesus to heal his son. He said to Jesus, “if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” The Lord can do all things. After His resurrection, Jesus said, “all authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth (Matt. 28:18).” Why say to Jesus “if” He can do something. Jesus’ response was something that Paul would go on to say in his life because he had learned that faith makes all things possible.

The man cried out to Jesus, “help me in my unbelief!” I tell you today that there’s nothing better you can ask God for when you feel doubt creeping in your heart. When you doubt what you can do, pray this prayer. When you doubt that the Lord is moving for you, pray this prayer. As Jesus said, all things are possible to those that believe. Stop letting your doubt limit what you and the Lord can accomplish!
