21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 22 “Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth1 Peter 2:21-22 NKJV
We believers have a very high calling. What is that calling? Peter tells us exactly what our calling is. Jesus suffered in this world to teach us the divine truth. Not only did Jesus teach us the divine truth, He also showed us the way that is righteous. So, Jesus truly was and is the Light of the world.
To believers, Jesus said that we are to be lights in the world. Peter reiterates this by saying our calling is to now be the examples of righteousness in the world. Peter speaks to the example of Jesus; He committed no sins nor was there any deceit in his mouth. It may be impossible for us to commit no sins but we can at least strive to live an honest life. There should be no deceit in the mouth of a child of God!
So, I ask you today: Are you setting a good example as a child of God? God looks for us to put forth an effort in our faith. This is what I encourage of you today: put forth the effort. Strive to live a Christ-like life! When we do this, it pleases the Lord and it sets a good example.
