Food For Thought

One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination. 10 Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, He himself will fall into his own pit; But the blameless will inherit good.

Proverbs 28:9-10 NKJV

If you have committed yourself to the Lord and said that He is the head of your life, don’t take your commitment lightly.  Your profession of faith must become a confession of faith.  This means that you don’t simply practice faith in word, but you move in faith, genuinely.  There are many that love to say they believe in God, but they show that they either never turned to Him or they turned away.

Pay close attention to the proverb.  Saying that you believe in the Lord, but you don’t live in obedience is not rewarded by the Lord.  God once told Israel to stop bringing futile sacrifices to Him because they chose to live in sin (Is. 1:10-13).  The same holds true for anyone blatantly choosing sin but trying to use God’s favor for blessings.  You must walk upright, in obedience, if you desire to receive from the Lord.

The upright will inherit good.  Those who live wickedly but think they can get over God are only fooling themselves.  A pit is awaiting the wicked.  It is a pit where there is no escape.  So, be careful of your walk.  Make sure that you’re walking upright in obedience.  Your walk sets your course.  At the same time, your walk can also set the example and the course for those around you.
