Food For Thought

11 Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.

3 John 11 NKJV

If you say that you are a child of God, do you understand what that means? Children often imitate those closest to them, like their parents, siblings, and friends. The hope is that children are surrounded by good examples to imitate, to follow. So, if you love to say that you’re a child of God, then should be close to the Lord.

If you’re in fellowship with the Lord, then how should you live? What should your character be? Should it be of malice and hate? God is love so your character should be, you guessed it, love. Should your character spew lies and conspiracies? God is holy and righteous, the divine truth. Guess what that means for you? You should hunger and thirst for the truth! You should live by the truth.

So, why are so many so-called believers the opposite of the Lord? Who do you imitate? For one to say they are a child of God but don’t move in a Christlike manner, that implies one thing. What is that? They must not be close with the Lord. Be careful who and what you follow today if you say that you’re a child of God. Do your best to stay near to the Lord so that you can follow in His way.
