Food For Thought

Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.

Psalm 37:5-6 NKJV

I am sure you have heard it said that the Lord will give you the desires of your heart. Jesus taught that if we ask what we desire, it will be given (John 15:7). However, there is a problem and to be clear, the problem is not with Jesus’ statement. The problem lies with our thinking and then our doing.

Many people will ask of God but not necessarily ask out of faith. They will say that they prayed but then complain about how God did not deliver. What I love about this psalm of David is that David speaks about faith and receiving. One must learn to be committed to God in full faith. To commit means to carry into action deliberately or to pledge to a course. David said one must also trust in the Lord, which again, speak about faith.

Yes, God will give you the desires of your heart but only when you’re committed to Him in full faith. If you trust in the Lord then He will give to you and it will please Him. If you ask of God and there is no faith, why expect anything? If you ask of God and there is doubt, why expect anything? You must be committed to God in your heart— have faith!
