⁴ By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life. ⁵ Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse; He who guards his soul will be far from them.

Proverbs 22:4-5 NKJV

There is a great snare that has trapped mankind for a very long time.  There is a chance, a really good chance, that you might be caught up in its trap.  What is that trap?  The trap of wealth, riches, and honor.  Are you caught up in the hustle and grind for riches and wealth? 

History shows us how men have spent lifetimes chasing fame and fortune.  Often it is the case that the effort to gain riches and honor is done through selfish ambition.  In selfish ambition, man turns away from God for personal gain.  Selfish men don’t move out of love as they tear down the lives of others.  Does tearing down the lives of others sound like something that will go rewarded by God?  

The reward of God is the true wealth and honor, right?  The way to that wealth is by humility.  By true  humility, those you help will turn around and help you in your time of trouble.  The help of a neighbor is a wonderful blessing, especially in the world we live in.  Then when you add on find favor in God’s eyes because you have humility and fear of the Lord, what can be better than that? 

Don’t fall for the false riches and honor that the wicked offer!  Move with humility and you will find the great reward of love and there is nothing better than that.
