Food For Thought

22 You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

John 4:22-23 NKJV

The Samaritan woman and Jesus were in the midst of having a conversation about worship. She was concerned about what was the right place to worship God. Jesus told her the place of worship doesn’t matter. What was it that mattered? I feel like many church folks need to hear what Jesus said to her.

So, what is it that is most important about worship? What’s most important is the sincerity of your worship. Let’s not overlook the fact that Jesus said one needs to know who and what they are worshiping. I know that I worship the Lord because of the grace and mercy that He has shown me and to so many more. I worship the one who gave His only begotten Son to atone for when I give in to temptation and error in my walk of faith.

Do you know who and what you worship? Do you worship going to church each Sunday? Do you worship hearing the choir sing? Or do you give God praise because you believe, in your heart, He is worthy to be praised? Worship the Lord because you truly believe He is worthy of it in your heart. If you know that God loves you, then you should certainly worship Him in spirit and truth.
