Don’t Let Your Splendor Become Your Death | Ezek. 28:17
October 29, 2024
17 “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, that they might gaze at you.
Ezekiel 28:17 NKJV
You ever heard that old saying, “pride comes before the fall”? If not, the proverb states, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Prov. 16:18).” Pride is a very wicked and dangerous spirit.
We must not ignore the Lord’s words to Satan in this scripture because so many of us are proud and arrogant today. There are many who are so self-righteous that they fail to see that their splendor will be the death of them. The devil corrupted his wisdom because he thought so highly of himself to oppose the Lord. My fear today is that many are being deceived to think so highly of themselves that they are putting themselves at odds with God.
God desires a people that are humble and of humility. God desires a people that are of love. God doesn’t desire suppressors. God doesn’t desire oppressors. God doesn’t desire dictators. God desires the meek and lowly, those of a sincere and honest heart. As Satan was cast to the ground, so shall those that choose to live according to his way of pride and arrogance.
Fair warning to the proud and arrogant – starting raising yourself against God because that would be fighting a losing battle. You raise yourself against God when you choose to suppress, oppress, and dictate your way to others. You raise yourself against God when you move out of hate against others. Just know, that is not something that pleases the Lord.
